Calm
Calm
They say a calm mind is like water. It flows from one situation to encompass the next, flowing into circumstances of any intensity with pure thought and direct consciousness, just as water flows from one cup to another of altering sizes. A calm mind is untouched by what most causes human grief and uninhibited by carelessness caused in excessive human emotion. To express calm is to express control, calm mind, calm action, calm aura.
Calm Under Pressure
A little pressure builds in daily life and people surmount it with additional pressure amplified in the mind. When pressure presents itself it should be your task to calm the storm, not add to it, otherwise we overwhelm ourselves. Is a rollercoaster more confronting when we see it for what it is; a fun amusement park ride, or when our mind screams; “we’re all gonna die!” as we are lining to board such a treacherous mechanism? To be calm under pressure means you can tackle more stressful situations with a clarity of mind which doesn’t amplify but rather subdues and nullifies the pressure of a situation. When presenting a speech, it is to see the people you are presenting to as, just people, not increase the intensity through the portrayal that a thousand judgemental eyes are assessing you. When you feel the pressure building within your life, simplify, don’t overwhelm. Be simple and straightforward in your assessment of the situation, stop the exaggeration or what you face only becomes more ferocious than what the difficulty actually presents.
Mental Stability
Without calm, the mind will traverse with the motions. When you are sad, you will fall into that sadness, when stressed, you only become more stressed, when someone is angry and upset, you become angry and upset. Calm helps navigate between helpful and unmeaningful emotion, it rationalises the feelings to take on board and subdues that which is not helpful. If a calm mind sees a happy situation, he becomes happy, an aggravated situation, he slows his heart rate, clears his mind and becomes present, he does not waver or fall into the tunnel vision of the opposing heightened individuals, he does not falter his ability to think. Mental stability means to not ride the rollercoaster of emotion in accordance with the environment around you or events happening in your life, but rather have control over how you choose to feel regardless of the situation. Maintain calm, maintain clarity.
Non-Control
Let go a little. Not everything which happens or all decisions thought about need your input, let events flow with acceptance and happiness in whatever occurs. People seek to have their opinion heard or acknowledged so often that sometimes they struggle to even understand first why they have come to that conclusion. Non-control means to listen and let events flow without the need for you to have control. When we expect or demand control over occurrences, we set ourselves up for disappointment. When that control gets rejected or that event does not pan out as we expect, frustration occurs and we lose our calm nature. As soon as we let go of this control whether it was before or after the occurrence the calm has no possibility of being interrupted, we are calm with what happens, however it happens. When your friends are deciding what to do, do not demand they do what you wish, when wanting a game to go a certain way, do what is within your control but do not falter for the end result when it is out of your control. Non-control, let life flow freely.
Aura
Calm can be seen visibly, and it can also be felt. When around someone who is calm natured you naturally begin to feel a sense of calmness yourself, it is like they give you a portion of their calmness. When they are level-headed, you become more level-headed, you kind of fall into their calmness. This is because a calm natured individual produces the aura of comfort, clarity, and confidence. Their ability to politely assess each and every situation gives you a sense of safety, it feels as though there is someone you can depend upon to find a correct resolution without adding fuel to the fire. Be calm, be an individual which can produce this relaxed aura for all those around you to indulge. Be the safety person, the one people can rely on, all it takes is the willingness to remain calm given almost all circumstance.
