The Pamphlet Strategy

The Pamphlet Strategy

Money saving is difficult. When the love of the splurge takes over as your eyes fixate on those new shoes you’ve been salivating over for more than a year. Nights out as your credit card is consumed by liquor and mix marked up at 200 percent. Memberships, taxes, mortgages, insurance, so many things draining that sweet honey from our bank accounts.

Well, there is a small strategy, an easy one to follow, and can be worked on at your own leisure which may provide assistance. This is called The Pamphlet Strategy, taking 100 Pamphlets numbered 1 – 100, and each day filling one up with the number designated to it. Now there are multiple variations to this, and Pamphlet can be a metaphor for savings account. Simply putting $100 one day into a savings account, then $1 the next day, ticking off the number as you go will average at a savings of $50.50 a day converting to $5,050 at the end of 100 days. If you want to speed up the saving process, fill two Pamphlets a day averaging at $101 saved a day and $10,100 saved at the end of 100 days, or $5,050 in 50 days.

This works because on rough days, when struggling for money, fill the cheaper Pamphlets of 1 – 20 dollars. When you have just received a fat paycheck get a little cocky and fill some of the higher ups between the 70 – 100 range. If 100 Pamphlets is too much, try 50 Pamphlets to achieve $1,250 in a month and a half. If you have too much money to the point you’re splurging on unnecessary things give 200 Pamphlets a go or fill extra Pamphlets per day resulting in an abundance of more savings. The whopping 365-day Pamphlet rule if ever affordable would result in $66,612 of pure savings at the end of a year.

Diversify this method according to your circumstances and how you see fit. It is designed as a game which promotes a sense of satisfaction and a conscious consistency in saving every day. Take charge of your savings, finding a method to achieve your goals, preventing the useless splurge on unnecessary attributes.
