Loop of Hell
Loop of Hell
There is a downwards spiral when it comes to an overindulgence in negative thoughts. As we weave together stories in our minds containing fear, heartbreak or misery. It is as though we enjoy to psychologically suffer, like we gain pleasure through the form of psychological pain.
This is the loop of hell, a common phenomenon with biological roots. When someone begins to delve into unruly thought, say, a partner cheating, losing a loved one, loneliness or death. Your mind releases a pleasure hormone, making that train of thought emotionally painful yet somehow profoundly satisfying for some parts of the brain. It is releasing pleasure through the form of negative thinking. Negative thought comes to fluorescence, pleasure hormone is released, negative thought is expanded upon, more of the pleasure hormone is released, and the cycle continues until you’re a chronic negative thinker and affecting your mental health.
In the moment these negative thoughts and stories indulged in can feel somewhat good, giving a sense of identity, pleasure through the form of pain, as we satisfy the monkey brain and its arsenal of emotions. Though there are deep repercussions to this form of thinking, as the mind becomes entrained and fixated towards negative. Over time larger portions of thinking will be directed into this loop, pessimism, mistrust and fear will emerge and most of it will be based off illusions you have played in your own head. The cycle continues as you feed the brain with constant negativity where more pleasure derives. You graffiti your brain, occupy it with nullifying thoughts and entrench yourself in a pattern to madness or a never-ending loop of hell.
Thoughts should be made to flow, not clung to. Like an endless stream that adapts and changes to the conditions you beset it. See thoughts, but there is no need to spoil them with too much attention. If a thought makes you feel pain, unease or a sense of suffer then no benefit will come from wallowing in it. Buddhist says rid the thoughts which cause you to suffer, see them but do not indulge, rather cultivate thoughts which allow you internal wealth, the good thoughts and beliefs which will allow you to prosper. When a negative thought approaches the mind, it is a blessing to understand this concept. Most get trapped in negative thought or the loop of hell as a result of the pleasure feeling which guides it. Understanding the inner functions which provoke this thought trap, is the first step into realising how to prevent it. A negative thought will arise, and you will sense the pleasure in entertaining it, you now understand this pleasure truly as disguised pain and you will clear your mind to prevent it. Beware of how it works and beware of the cursedly impacts, cultivate the positive thoughts and let the negative flow through the mind, observed but without attachment.
